40% Off: An Art Show for a New Economy

We had an absolutely wonderful opening reception last friday, 2/20/09, for an exhibition titled "40% Off: An Art Show for a New Economy". Organized by SFMediaLabs and spearheaded by Instructables' Noah Weinstein, co-creator of the now-infamous Joydick, the show will be at ABCo Artspace (3135 Filbert Street in Oakland) for the next month, so if you weren't able to make it to the show, come by and see it! The show was covered by Violet Blue at both SF Gate and ArtMachines, and Rich Gibson took a number of Gigapan images of the show.

Bay Area Backroads covers Maker Faire

(and Yours Truly)

I have been waiting for this for months. The camera crew for Bay Area Backroads visited my booth at Maker Faire, and their segment on the whole thing finally aired. Which is to say, I finally found it online (thanks Lil!). Here's a link to the video, which also covers Bruce Shapiro, the Neverwas Haul, and the Lifesize Mousetrap.

Applied Kinetic Arts show at Y2Y Gallery, SF

The opening reception for the AKA show at Y2Y Gallery in San Francisco was attended by nearly 150 people: a wonderful turnout. With kinetic work by Christopher Palmer, Nemo Gould, Reuben Margolin, Mark Galt, and myself, there was plenty to watch, press, pull, crank, and wonder at. I debued my newest work: A SMALL FORCE (see small video below by Nemo). The show is up until January 23rd, so if you have a chance stop by 251 Balboa Street and check it out. Here is a video taken by Mark Hellar and some photos. More photos here. We also have an Applied Kinetic Arts website here; check it out for group updates and upcoming shows!
